A couple of weeks ago, I attended the Louis Armstrong Festival with my boyfriend and it was absolutely amazing! It was a great event with lots of activities, food and MUSIC!! They had some great bands for the lineup of the festival.
I really enjoyed watching Antibalas. I love the energy that the lead vocalist but also really appreciate that they write songs that are socially conscious. It's something that I'd like to do more in my writing (hopefully for the next album!). If you've never heard of Antibalas before then press play on the track below and thank me later.
The headliner for the festival was the only and only, Lauryn Hill!! I was so excited to be seeing her perform for the first time because she's such an inspiration to me and I feel like I identify with her a lot. It didn't matter that it was raining and I couldn't see her so well. Just hearing her play and sing renewed inspiration in me to continue on this path to become a singer. Regardless of the shortcomings and pitfalls I face. One day, I'd like to headline the Louis Armstrong Festival.

I'd like to take this time out to introduce to my good friend, singer - songwriter Brielle Liebman! I met Brielle while doing my undergraduate at William Paterson and I was immediately impressed with how amazing a songwriter she is!

It's been a year since I joined Big Beat, and the experience has been life changing. I never imagined that I would be singing with a big band, and yet here I am! I've made so many new friends, and had so many wonderful experiences that I can't wait for what's to come with this band.
This Saturday, July 18th, marks the 1 year anniversary of Big Beat and is also the same day that Big Beat will be releasing it's first EP! The release party is being held at Hat City Kitchen (it's kind of become our turf lol) and we'll be there at 8:00 PM.
I'm especially excited about this because two of my songs, "I'll Be Burning for You" and "Lovers Call" will be featured on the EP!

As for my EP, I'm excited to announce that I'll be releasing it in August! (I can't give all the details away!). I've had a lot of setbacks this past month with trying to get the album together, but I'm pushing through! And I can't wait for you all to hear what I've come up with. Good things are ahead. I can feel it.
